HONEY VALLEY · DISTINCTIVE HONEY

When honey changes texture.

Stories, useful knowledge and small pleasures from the world of honey.

A jar that once poured freely may become cloudy, grainy or softly set. Crystallisation is a natural change in honey: some of its sugars form tiny crystals.

A different texture, the same ritual.

Try a little set honey on warm toast, or let a spoonful soften into porridge. You may find that a thicker texture makes honey easier to spread and portion.

Care for your jar.

Keep honey tightly closed in a cool, dry place. Use a clean, dry spoon. To soften crystallised honey, stand the jar in warm water and stir gently, keeping water out of the honey. Follow the storage guidance on your label.

A change in texture alone does not tell you the honey’s floral source, processing history or purity. For information about your jar, ask our team.
